A large number of constituents, local schools and businesses have been impacted by limited or no water supplies as a result of an unprecedented amount of burst pipes and leaks following the freezing conditions experienced last week. Huw has been in direct contact with the Minister responsible for water at Defra and has also written to the Managing Director of South East Water, the Chief Executive of OFWAT and the Minister to ask what is being done to help local households especially vulnerable residents. He has also asked will be done to compensate customers and prevent similar incidences in the future. Copies of his letters are attached at the foot of this page.
Advice and information for South East Water customers is available on their website at the following link https://www.southeastwater.co.uk/
Update: Huw has received a reply from Minister, Therese Coffey MP, regarding compensation for customers and a review of the water companies performance during this period which will be carried out by Ofwat. A copy of the reply is at the foot of this page.
