Bexhill MP, Huw Merriman, spoke to Bexhill College students about the wide range of career and training opportunities which will be on offer at the Bexhill Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair this Friday 15 March.

Bexhill College is a key sponsor and co-organiser of the Bexhill Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair and arranges transport for its students to attend during the college day.

At a special event aimed at students, Huw joined speakers including Jennie Cole from the East Sussex County Council Careers Hub, Mark Pavlides from GoviaThameslink Railway, Andy Pritchard, College Vice Principal and Poppy Watts, Chair of the Senior Students to talk about what to expect from the Jobs Fair and how to prepare for it.

Speaking after the event, Huw said “My team and I are actively involved in organising the Bexhill Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair and it is a pleasure to work with Bexhill College, De La Warr Pavilion and Rother District Council to deliver this amazing community-led event each year.

“I’d like to thank all the speakers who took part in the Jobs Fair launch at the College last Friday to give their tips and advice about careers and what to expect from the Jobs Fair, along with describing their own varied career journeys. They were insightful and inspiring.

“The key tips to pass onto anyone coming to the Jobs Fair are – be curious, be open-minded, and remember that all the exhibitors are looking forward to meeting you and talking about careers and training. You may be surprised by some of the amazing opportunities in the room. Bring your CV, bring your questions and, if you need any help on the day, we have a team of friendly volunteers who will be happy to help and support you.”
