Bexhill MP, Huw Merriman, congratulated the Shiplu Tandoori Restaurant in Bexhill which has been named South East Runner Up in the prestigious Tiffin Cup competition.
Shiplu Tandoori was presented with a certificate and embroidered Tiffin Cup 2015 apron to mark their achievement in this year’s competition at the Grand Final cook-off at the House of Commons on Tuesday 27 October.
The Tiffin Cup champion, the Jewel in the Crown in Swindon, was chosen by a panel of judges led by Chef Ainsley Harriot and included, Ching he Huang, Nina Wadia, Hardeep Singh Kohli, Sue Harrison, Dhruv Baker, Lisa Faulkner, Sanjay Anand MBE and Amin Ali.
The Shiplu Tandoori was nominated by Huw who said “I am delighted that the Shiplu Tandoori was named South East Runner Up in the Tiffin Cup. It is such a prestigious award and to be honoured in this way is testament to the fantastic efforts of all the staff.
Keith Vaz MP, the co-chair of the Tiffin Cup said “We are pleased that the Shiplu Tandoori has been named Runner Up in the Tiffin Cup 2015. This is a great tribute not just to the nomination of local MP Huw Merriman but also to the constituency of Bexhill and Battle.”
Shiplu owner, Mr Abul Azad said “It was a honour to take part in the Tiffin Cup and to be awarded runner up is a great achievement.
