At a lobby in Parliament for Parish Councils, I was delighted to meet with the Sussex and Surrey Associations of Local Councils, to discuss local government, road infrastructure and the challenges arising within the AONB.
This Tuesday, Huw hosted the BBC Sport Breakfast. The Breakfast welcomed our most decorated female Olympian and Head of UK Sport, Dame Katherine Grainger, to launch a major collaboration to deliver an extra thousand hours of free sport on the BBC.
Sarah Newton, the Minister for Disabled People, Health & Work, held an event on the 21st of February, which gave Members of Parliament an opportunity to learn more about the Disability Confident initiative.
Last week Huw Merriman, MP for Bexhill and Battle, signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment, in doing so pledging his commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day and honouring those who were murdered during the Holocaust as well as paying tribute to the extraordinary Holocaust survivo
I have been contacted by constituents who have inquired as to whether Parliament will get a say on the final terms covering the departure of the UK from the EU and the new agreement which may govern our future terms. In particular, I have been asked if I will be voting for an Amendment 7, to Clause 9, of the EU Withdrawal Bill, which, it is claimed, would give Parliament greater power to scrutinise our exit terms.
